Not only that, but it also teaches you to persevere for the sake of your family, regardless of the challenges and circumstances you face.
In fact, there are no words sufficient to describe this movie because its events depict the saga of life and the conflicts within it, as well as the immense challenges a person may face to achieve their goals. Despite this, we will attempt to elaborate on the details and storyline of the film. In your opinion, as an audience, this movie will evoke all your feelings from your heart and make you live alongside Will Smith or Christopher Gardner as if you were them.
This was a simple introduction to the film, and now let's discuss the events more smoothly and with more detail.
The most important moments, scenes, and events in the movie The Pursuit of Happyness.
First, I want to say that Will Smith’s performance was completely extraordinary, and he succeeded in making all the audiences feel the story of Christopher Gardner’s life. He made me feel that this was actually happening right in front of me, as if it was not acting, and that is amazing for him. Reaching this level as an actor is a sign of exceptional ability, which is rarely found in an actor.
Let's move quickly to the film's storyline, which centers on a man who has a small family consisting of a wife and son. He works as a salesman. He spent all his savings on purchasing a large amount of a distinctive medical device and began marketing it to hospitals and clinics, but he was surprised by the lack of success. He faces many ongoing financial problems, which lead his wife to leave him because she cannot bear the stress, but he insists on keeping his son with him. He decides to try a new path by working as a stockbroker, hoping to find a way out of his financial crises, but the problems seem to persist. It’s as if they are tracking him, and they start to follow him everywhere. However, with persistence, steadfastness, and determination, he finally overcomes them and creates a bright future for himself.
The first stage in Chris Gardner's life involves facing significant difficulties in selling the medical devices he owns, along with several financial obligations that must be paid, such as rent, taxes, and car fines. His wife works two shifts at her job to meet their various needs, even though it exhausts her greatly. As Chris continues his efforts at work, he sees a person getting out of a very luxurious car, looking wealthy and happy. He learns that this person works as a stockbroker in one of the companies and asks himself: Why am I not?
Chris decides to look for a job at this company, and he actually finds a training program that qualifies him to work as a stockbroker. It accepts twenty trainees, but only one is selected after six months of training, and he actually applies to participate in this program.
We see, through several scenes, his wife Linda’s poor treatment of him and her loss of trust in him. This stems from the various financial pressures they face and his inability to handle these pressures. Conversely, we observe his strong attachment and deep love for his son, as well as his ongoing conversations with him and his efforts to establish core values in him, such as not letting anyone discourage him or keep him away from his dreams.
A month passes without anyone contacting him from the company where he applied for the training program. He decides to meet the person responsible for it, doing so as if it were a coincidence, but he doesn't pay much attention to him. Instead, Chris catches his attention by holding a Rubik’s Cube and quickly solving it, which greatly impresses the man.
Chris returns home and discovers that Linda has left him and taken their son with her. He experiences a deep emotional loss, but is saved from it by a call from an official at the company, informing him that they are waiting to discuss his enrollment in training.
Chris goes to Linda's workplace the next day to tell her that he will take his son to live with him, and he even goes to pick him up from his nursery so they can head home. The problems start when the house owner knocks on his door to demand his overdue rent, making it clear he can't stay there any longer. However, he manages to negotiate with him to stay temporarily in exchange for painting the apartment, and the owner agrees.
Problems and difficulties continue to catch up with him. He is detained on the night of his expected interview at the company due to an unpaid car violation fine. He isn't released until just a few minutes before his appointment, but he doesn’t give up and drives straight to the company, running like a madman. He is wearing a jacket and appears... He has traces of paint on his clothes, and when he reaches his apartment and enters the interview, he convinces everyone present with skill and wit that there is nothing wrong with his appearance. He even impresses them greatly and makes them agree to him joining the training program, but when he learns that there is no salary, he hesitates a lot, as this puts him in front of... His sole source of income is selling all the medical equipment he owns.
Linda decides to move to another city for a better job, and Chris chooses to begin training. He also moves to a different house that he can afford and continues trying to sell his equipment. He faces ongoing struggles both inside and outside of training until a glimmer of hope appears on the horizon. Someone has shown interest, and potential clients wanted to meet him, but he was unable to keep his appointment. Instead, he went home with his son as if by chance, and he managed to get to know him and discuss the possibility of him joining the company he was training with as a client.
Things stayed steady for four months after that, during which Chris managed to sell all the medical equipment he had and continued his training and life peacefully with his son, until fate decided to hit him hard—taxes were taken from his entire bank account, leaving only dollars. Simply put, he ended up completely broke.
Not only that, but he was also evicted from his new home for not paying the rent. He and his son found themselves homeless, in a very tragic situation. However, he did not give up. He began spending every night in a shelter for the homeless. In the morning, he would carry his bag and the only medical device he had left, which he had managed to get back from a man who stole it. Then he would head to the training company, pick up his son from the nursery, and quickly go to the homeless shelter to secure a bed for the night.
The days went by like this for him. He took his final exam with the company, finished it quickly, and started waiting for the results. During that time, he managed to sell the last medical device, moved to a suitable place to stay, and convinced quite a few clients to join the company.
His life was going pretty well, and he was trying to find some lost happyness in the process with his son.
He reached the final day of training before the announcement of who got the job, and he was asked to meet the same group he had met earlier, when he was in his miserable condition, to sit with them again. This time, however, they told him they had chosen him to join them as a stockbroker, and signs of happiness appeared on him. He was so happy that tears nearly came to his eyes.
Last scene: Chris left the company, ran to his son in the nursery, and hugged him tightly. Then they walked home, and his son told him some jokes along the way.
There are many enjoyable scenes in this movie, and we will definitely discuss them, and together we will identify the best master scenes of The Pursuit of Happyness.
