Introduction to Elio: a good animated film

What a film! Elio truly surprised me with a wealth of beautiful emotions I hadn't expected. It wasn't just a fleeting adventure; it carried a profound message and purpose that deeply affected me. The execution was exceptional.

A film that compels you to turn the tide of events is truly commendable, especially if you still ponder its themes when you finish.

Not to mention the messages Elio conveys, which contain important and genuine values that deserve to be remembered and considered, as that is the very purpose of films and cinema.

The most beautiful aspect of the film is Elio's unique spirit, which brims with passion, ambition, defiance, and love despite the pain of losing his parents.

The voice acting was outstanding, and the direction was seamless, portraying the characters' diversity clearly and effectively.

Elio's story and the harsh reality

The story is about a child who lost his parents and was raised by his aunt, but he did not feel comfortable with her, and that discomfort extended to those around him. Hence, he tries to communicate with creatures from beyond Earth, hoping to find good company and a better place so that he can feel he exists.

Some things happen to us in the world that we cannot control at all, but we were created in a way that allows us to adapt to all situations. When we are unable to do so, a problem arises that must be solved so that life does not stop.

Losing a loved one, especially a parent, is a truly terrible experience, enough to destroy a person, especially if they do not have someone or something to cling to that will alleviate their pain and dispel their thoughts, which will inevitably be focused on the one they lost and on their new life without them.

Sometimes life gives us what we want to pursue, and when this happens, we discover that our choices and wishes were not in the right direction. Therefore, fate works to correct the situation immediately and gives us a very important message: your choice in life is not necessarily the right one.

Elio never felt a sense of belonging on Earth, a strange feeling for a child, to search among the galaxies for beings he could interact with, perhaps even coexist with, and feel a connection to. Strangely enough, he found what he was looking for, embarked on this unusual journey, and, even more strangely, succeeded in the end, reaping more than he had hoped for.

But then the moment of realization arrived. He understood that many on Earth longed to connect with him, perhaps even become his friends, if only he gave them the opportunity and gave it to himself as well.

Then he discovered that his aunt loved him most and wanted to connect with him. She had helped him overcome this difficult situation without hesitation or wavering, and she was willing to let him connect with other beings as long as it brought him happiness.

Failure versus saving a life

At a certain point in the film, you'll witness the frustration and disappointment, the mounting responsibility, and the self-reproach that follow Elio's grave mistake, which could lead to the annihilation of the alien race he joined, a race he aspired to join permanently.

You can't deal with an adversary without first assessing their strength, especially when you know very little about them. It's a huge risk to claim knowledge, intelligence, and power. You must acknowledge your own size and value among other beings and avoid exaggerating your importance.

Fate played its hand exceptionally well, as Elio was destined to meet Glordon on Earth, the alien with whom he had formed a beautiful friendship despite their brief encounter. Therefore, Elio didn't hesitate to do the right thing, regardless of the consequences.

His aunt sensed what was going on in his mind about his friend Glordon and was aware of the whole matter at the time, despite its strangeness, but she did not deny the news and began to help him, regardless of the consequences.

It was an indescribable feeling when Elio and his aunt saved his friend and averted the impending disaster that would have befallen him. This changed everyone's perception of him and his unique, praiseworthy spirit.

Elio had found what he truly wanted and sought, earning the love, gratitude, and appreciation of everyone beyond Earth. He realized that what he had been searching for had been right beside him from the beginning, but he hadn't seen it or believed it existed. A veil had been placed over his vision, and it lifted when he found his aunt standing by his side, helping him achieve what he loved and desired. And it wasn't just her; many others who had guided him on his journey also supported him.

Saving a single life is worth more than all the successes we can achieve and is a higher goal than any personal glory we might aspire to.

Elio's decision

Better late than never. Elio realized that what he had been searching for had been right in front of him from the beginning, but he had never given it a chance. He was like someone who rejected his entire reality because of what had happened to his parents. Therefore, his imagination transcended the entire planet Earth and all its inhabitants.

It wasn't easy for him to give up his success with the other beings from outer Earth and his unique friendship with Glordon, but family is the ultimate refuge, and home is the warmth and embrace of its people. This is the true value that no creature can deny.

The overwhelming emotion of Elio's character, combined with his unique spirit, created a beautiful blend in the scene of his return home. The influence of his aunt was also evident in his attachment to her and his return with her.

elements movie

The movie's elements, particularly its characters and their quality, were truly exceptional. I felt a distinct difference in each character, which significantly enriched the film. Elio's character, in particular, possessed a unique and brilliant spirit.

The events unfolded smoothly and harmoniously, without disrupting the film's logic or pace.

The unique and fantastical world created for Elio was breathtaking by any standard, surpassing even the wildest dreams of those who aspire to such boundless realms of imagination.

The brilliant ending reminds us that we are not alone; there is always someone who wants to be with us, someone who wants to be by our side. We simply don't look closely enough to see them. We must carefully consider our choices before making them.

The similarity between Elio and Glordon is striking. Elio was displeased with his aunt, believing she didn't want him at all and that she was burdening him with suffocating obligations. Glordon, by contrast, saw his father, Lord Grigon, as distant and uncaring, merely a warrior following in his footsteps—a perception Glordon rejected.

However, both the aunt and the father were bound to the children by blood ties, a bond imbued with affection and goodwill, even if appearances suggested otherwise. Ultimately, this bond manifested as an outpouring of love, care, and genuine concern for the child's well-being.

Elio, the good animated film

Elio presented us with genuine messages imbued with beautiful values, showcasing a unique connection with beings different from ourselves. He demonstrated that differences among creatures in the universe aren't significant, as all creatures share the same instincts. He also raised several other points we mentioned earlier.

I didn't find anything in the film that was contradictory or detracted from its value. I believe it avoids points that could compromise its logic. However, I simply wished Elio had more screen time to highlight aspects of his personality, the influence of his parents on him, and his interactions with others before their loss.

Also, his rejection of his aunt, without any predefined logic or contextual events explaining the reasons for this rejection, and his difficulty connecting with the children around him, needed more context to fully explain his search beyond the planet.

The rating Elio received on IMDb is completely unfair, and I found it very strange. But it's always the differences between us as humans that distinguish us from one another.
