Passenger Introduction

Passenger is a film that will satisfy anyone looking for pure, unadulterated horror that will knock you off your seat and throw you to the ground.

Released in 2026, the film received a low rating on IMDb, despite being a thoroughly satisfying horror film for fans of the genre.

The premise is certainly not fully developed, but it's a good concept for a horror film that creates a terrifying atmosphere for viewers.

There's also a lingering unease as you anticipate the evil entity's return at any moment.

The film is captivating in some of its exciting scenes, which feature strong direction and cinematography.

A Fast and Terrifying Beginning

The film's most distinctive feature is its fast-paced, terrifying opening, which initially gave me the impression that I was about to enjoy a horror film brimming with suspense.

However, strangely, it quickly faded to make way for character introductions, but these introductions were extremely superficial, offering no depth to the characters, and the film began to drift toward a state of calm and dullness.

There was also a strange contradiction that suddenly emerged in Maddie's character. After she and Tyler had previously agreed to continue their nomadic existence, she became terrified of the nomadic life and constant change, yearning for stability and a home.

Between routine and enjoyment

The film was only enjoyable in certain parts, and in others it was annoyingly formulaic. The plot was somewhat disjointed and incomplete, failing to explain where the passenger came from or how he appeared to these specific people or in these particular locations, leaving it little more than a typical horror film.

Furthermore, the demonic creature's approach to the lovers without directly harming them was detrimental. Its justification near the end, claiming it enjoyed the chase and the lovers' company and didn't want to kill them outright, was foolish. This is a dangerous, recurring flaw in many films, in which the protagonists are given time to discover a way to escape their pursuers (evil) and are then allowed to do so.

On the contrary, I don't deny that there were specific moments of enjoyment in the film's terrifying and entertaining horror scenes, which offered a fresh perspective in their presentation, such as the screenshot where the demonic creature emerged. This successfully masked the film's weaknesses, but it didn't elevate it to a level of true artistry.

The choice of darkness and dim lighting was quite distinctive, despite being conventional in this genre of film. It had a positive and impactful effect on the horror scenes.

The sound and visual effects were also excellent, though I believe they could have been used more effectively. For example, in the scene where she heads toward the car and the distance seems to double each time she looks back, a faint shadow should have been added behind the front of the car for just a moment when she looked ahead.

The formula did not prevent the film from having a strong atmosphere of horror, nor did it prevent the inclusion of scary and exciting scenes, which is what any traditional horror film aspires to.

Unbelievable Naiveté

The film was marred by some naive moments, such as the demonic entity killing the woman who guided them to escape, doing so with such ease and cruelty, while it didn't do the same to the lovers, Maddie and Tyler, only making feeble attempts.

The final moments of the film showed that it was possible to resist the demonic entity, to stand up to it and confront it, which is incomprehensible given its demonic power, as displayed in terrifying moments with the others.

Also, the demonic entity allowed Maddie and Tyler to head toward the place of salvation, the church, then, in the final moments, tried to stop them and kill them, as if it finally realized the approaching danger that would destroy it and that it should no longer play games with them.

Never stop because it will stick to you and kill you. Even if you run out of fuel, don't stop. Even if a tire explodes, don't stop. Even if you see someone who was wrecked in an accident inside their car, don't stop. Although the person at the beginning of the movie didn't stop on the road when he saw it, he still reached inside his car.

final opinion

Passenger in the End is a horror film with some scary and exciting moments, offering a good dose of terror to its viewers, sometimes with a fresh approach. However, it lacks a convincing plot or an unusual concept; it's a typical, conventional horror film, though it does have its good moments.

The characters are therefore bland and lack depth, and the events are simplistic and occur without any convincing explanation.

The cinematography and direction are fairly good, with average acting, and there are no signs of a distinctive purpose, a unique plot, or a compelling story.
